Children in their early years learn differently compared to school-age children? <\/strong><\/p><p>Infants and children from the earliest years of life learn over time in natural contexts, through everyday experiences and routines and through repeated, positive interactions with people, symbols and objects.<\/p><p>Young children find it difficult to learn new skills in intensive, decontextualised or &#8216;in class&#8217; sessions, unlike school-age children. They are not able to generalise or transfer skills from one context to another. They learn from ongoing experiences, and it is in their life contexts that these best occur.<\/p><p><strong>DID YOU KNOW &#8230;<\/strong><strong>The more secure, self-effective and autonomous families feel, the better they contribute to their children&#8217;s development? <\/strong><\/p><p>Research shows that parents who feel able to make effective changes in the lives of their children have more incentive to put them into practice and to promote relevant learning experiences and opportunities for their development.<\/p><p>Therefore, for Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) the involvement and collaboration of families is fundamental, valuing their strengths and capacities, interaction patterns and cultural values. Helping parents to feel competent and capable so that they can positively influence the education and development of their children should be the basis of intervention with families.<\/p><p><strong>DID YOU KNOW<\/strong><strong>&#8230; in early intervention, what happens between professional visits is what really matters?<\/strong><\/p><p>It is increasingly recognised that parents are the main agents of change for young children and that the real intervention with the child occurs between the professional&#8217;s visits, when the child is with those with whom he has a meaningful relationship and with whom he spends the most time in his daily life.<\/p><p>If an early intervention meeting lasts approximately one hour and takes place once a week, you only have to do the math to realise how little impact it has on the child compared to the time parents and other carers have in their daily lives.<\/p><p>Family and other carers have more opportunities to interact and promote the child&#8217;s learning and development than any one professional will have and have a greater and more significant impact on the child&#8217;s development, whereas the weekly sessions of ECI professionals have little direct effect on the child&#8217;s development.<\/p><p><strong>DID YOU KNOW &#8230; <\/strong><strong>Early Childhood Intervention contributes to building an inclusive society? <\/strong><\/p><p>Inclusion provides fair access to the learning opportunities that exist in the various contexts where children are included. Considering each child&#8217;s potentials, expectations and needs, we support their participation and sense of belonging under truly equal conditions. Early Childhood Intervention, by empowering and strengthening families and other carers, facilitates the participation and active involvement of children in their natural life contexts, contributing to their learning and development. And this is valid for all children, regardless of their biological, psychological and social characteristics, ensuring their inclusion from the earliest ages.<\/p><p><strong>DID YOU KNOW&#8230; C<\/strong><strong>ollaboration and integrated action of services is a key component in Early Childhood Intervention?<\/strong><\/p><p>Children with developmental problems or at risk have additional needs that require planned interventions that respond in a coordinated way to the specific and diverse needs of children and families.<\/p><p>Collaboration is a process that allows us to achieve these objectives that cannot be reached when acting in isolation or, at least, cannot be reached as efficiently.
