Bonding and Parenting
“Bonding and Parenting” is the brochure that IAC – Instituto de Apoio à Criança, as part of its mission to protect the Rights of the Child, has produced to inform parents about the needs of children in terms of development and how parents and carers can promote this development through the exercise of a conscious, sensitive and positive parenting.
The attachment is the first relationship that the infant forms with its primary caregiver, and this emotional relationship is characterised by mutual affection and the desire to maintain closeness.
The quality of attachment has a strong influence on the child’s development, the organisation of his attachment system and his ability to establish affective bonds in the present and throughout his life.
This brochure, aimed at parents, is intended to be a tool that promotes knowledge and reflection on the subject.
