Perceptions Surveys will assess the degree of understanding of the first years of life
Under the responsability of ISAVE and ISPA
The Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso Foundation (FNSBS) promotes, starting
this weekend, two Perceptions Surveys, one
under the responsibility of ISAVE and the other under the responsibility of
ISPA, to find out the degree of understanding of the Portuguese society about
the importance of the first 1.000 days of life (0-3 years) and the first years
of life (0-6 years), in the development of the child and throughout life. The
results will be known in October 2023.
These Perceptions Surveys are promoted in the framework of the
participation of the Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso Foundation (FNSBS) in the Early
Childhood Development european campaign – First Years First
Priority, which aims
to put the issue of child development on the agenda in Portugal, in order to raise
awareness throughout society about the importance of the first years of life
in the process of human development.
The Perceptions Survey under the responsibility of ISAVE – Instituto
Superior de Saúde, under the coordination of Professor and Sociologist
Fausto Amaro, will concentrate the fieldwork in the municipality of Lisbon,
through 300 face-to-face interviews, in the period from 29th to 30th April
2023.
On the other hand, the Perceptions Survey under the responsibility of ISPA
– Instituto Universitário, through the Child and Family Centre (CECF) |
Social Development Research Group of the William James Center for Research,
under the coordination of the Principal Investigator Professor Manuela
Veríssimo, will carry out the work, with national coverage, through the
online platform Qualtrics, and is expected to take place on
May until end of June 2023. The results of both studies should be known in
October of this year.
“If we have, as a society, greater awareness of the true importance
and impact of the early years throughout life, we will make a greater
investment and create better conditions for families to welcome and care for
their children well when they are born”, says Paula Nanita, member of the Executive
Board and Executive Administrator of the Nossa Senhora do Bom Sucesso
Foundation (FNSBS).
To this end, the Primeiros Anos a Nossa Prioridade campaign brings together in coalition a
national network of about 40 public, private and social sector entities, which
seek to promote opportunities for all children aged 0 to 6 years, particularly
in the first 1.000 days of life, and that their families are able to provide
them with a secure bond and a healthy, stimulating and protective environment.
